For nearly 30 years, Gordon Andrews Construction (GAC) has been providing contracting services and roofing services to customers in the Northern Florida area.

In March of 2020, GAC was nearing completion on the construction of a new grocery outlet. Prior to completing this job their clients had learned of a nearby grocery outlet which had lost power for over one week due to a hurricane. The loss of power forced this neighboring store to dispel of the entirety of their frozen and refrigerated inventory. Causing a significant financial loss.

Due to the frequency of power outages in this region caused by hurricanes, and other extreme weather events, having a back up power plan is a necessity for any business involved in food storage and refrigeration.
Looking to mitigate any potential losses their customer might face due to a power outage, GAC began researching a back up power solution. Finding the right equipment can a complex task.

There are many issues to consider including permitting, emissions standards, rightsizing and installation. Additionally, there can be a significant lead time for new generators, which could delay the completion of a project. In this particular case, GAC was unable to locate a breaker box in with anything short of a 12 week time frame.

GPS was able to alleviate these timing concerns by locating a breaker box, generator and ATS from it’s own extensive inventory. GPS worked closely with the EC to coordinate shipping and installation within a one week time frame of the purchase order. Thus ensuring that this new grocery outlet had a secure backup power system in time for their grand opening.

“GPS totally knocked it out of the park, we couldn’t be happier.”
