Ensuring Uninterrupted Operations at Spirit Rock Meditation Center

Tucked away in the hills of west Marin County, California, Spirit Rock Meditation Center serves as a spiritual training institution and sanctuary for those who seek a more peaceful relationship with life. With programs developed to fulfill the needs of new and experienced practitioners, Spirit Rock’s campus provides a serene, spacious, and beautiful setting for its diverse community.

Prior to connecting with Global Power Supply (GPS), Spirit Rock’s backup power was provided by small portable generators that required a manual start. If there was a power outage, employees were tasked with fueling, connecting, and starting the generators. There was potential for active retreats to be suspended and buildings to be powerless for hours due to the processes that were in place.

Since 1988, Spirit Rock has been devoted to cultivating a safe, relaxing, and supportive environment for their practitioners. With a growing need to find a more efficient solution for power outages, they embarked on a new journey to find a source of back-up power that would provide reliability in uncertain times.

Thanks to GPS’s turnkey service, the retreat center now hosts two new generators and automatic transfer switch units on their northern and southern areas of campus.
Global Power Supply’s installation of a Hipower 250 kW HDI 250 T6U diesel generator, Hipower 130 kW HDI 130 T6U diesel generator, and (2) ASCO Series 300 Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) equipped the entire facility to remain operational within seconds of a power outage.

The new generators, with their integrated fuel tanks, will supply power to the facility for 72 hours before refueling. This solution removes the need for Spirit Rock personnel to be engaged and ensures that the meditation center runs seamlessly without any delays in power moving forward.
